Using the [Define Custom Layout for Adding Shows] link on the main page will allow you to set defaults for fields when adding new shows.

For instance, if you only trade in SHN you could set the media type field to default to 'SHN'. If you never use the tech notes field, you could hide it so you don't need to see it when you add a new show.

It is strongly recommended you use this feature 'cause it's so damn handy.
