db.etree.org md5add

Download: http://db.etree.org/soap/db_md5add.zip

To use this program: extract the .exe file to, for instance, your desktop. Double click on the program to set your userid and password for db.etree.org. Click OK to save.

Drag and drop an md5 file onto the exe. The exe will launch, try to log in to db.etree.org, try to match an existing shn entry based on the first two md5s in the md5 file you dropped onto the app. If it finds a matching shn record then that will be added to your list.

Nothing fancy is added right now...only the link to the show and the tradable flag is set to OK. I'll enhance this in the future to have the show get added to your default list, if you use multiple lists, and to use the defaults you set in the AddShowsFaster screen.

1/6/02 User report: When I first tried to run this, I got an error concerning MSINET.OCX. Windows Update did not solve the problem. I found [these instructions and patch] for a fix, and afterward it worked like a charm. Wonderful tool!

Another User Report 3/1/03
I try to run this and it says Class Does Not Support Automation or does not support expected interface.

7/13/03 Installing the files referenced below will resolve the above mentioned problems:

[1][2][3]

Great tool!!

8/17/03 User report: on indows XP, I installed the md5add and then had to install the msinet.ocx file. Did this and was successfully able to set my username and password. But any md5 file I try to drag to the md5add returns the error "Run-time error '52': Bad file name or number." The files 2 and 3 listed above do not specify whether they respond to this and do not seem to support XP.

9/3/04 User report: The problem with "Run-time error '52': Bad file name or number." is that the path contains spaces. Try putting your shows in a winblows place with no spaces as in C:\tunes\ or whatever. This tool is great... when the show has a source match in the db- which they often don't.

9/2004: Caching change at db affects shows added by this method.
List presentations are now refreshed only when a list is edited or added to through the web. So when shows are only added by this tool, the list will not refresh to display the added shows.

See thread about this: http://db.etree.org/messageboards/read.php?f=3&i=7206&t=7206

Workaround: Visit list via the web, do any (even pretend) thing to change something, hit a button, and all added shows will appear.
