Notes: 72:04 The actual date on this has been narrowed down with near certainty to 4-15-94. The actual 2-7-94 show surfaced about two years ago, and this is most certainly not it.

Notes: Tool - 1994-02-07 The Masquerade Atlanta, GA Notes: This particular date, 02.07.94, has been floating around with an inaccurate show attached for a very longtime. Now, this -is- the performance from this date. One place where people get tripped up is that Tool played in Atlanta only 2 months later & that show was also recorded. Thus, over time the latter show was confused for both dates & this performance was not released. All in all, this is a rather confusing recording but this is -definitely- the 02.07.94 show as Paul says "this is the first night of our tour" before Sweat, which is referred to as 'free bird'.. Maynardism: "Hi, we're Tool. We're from Los Angeles as luck would be." "So, um, we're from California so we lots of, um, really interesting natural disasters and, um, I was kind of curious... does Atlanta have any natural disasters other than, um, Christians? Is that an answer? "See the PA right there? Get right in front of it." "I'm not saying anything, look, I've been singing all night. This is all recorded. Turn off the tape!" Notes: All info for this show is unconfirmed & unsubstantiated. However, it is very clear that this show is not from the above date. But, this performance has been labeled as such for a long time & almost all traders and other individuals have this labeled as such. No one, at this time, is sure of where this came from nor is sure of source info. So, please take note. Hicks died later than Feb. 94. Unless Maynard is psychic, this is evidence that the date is wrong. Could this show/recording actually be 04.15.94 Atlanta?

Notes: Heavy, heavy, Heavy. Another excellent quality Undertow gig, and another one to pop in the car CD player and enjoy. Very similar in sound to 4.17.94 ('Sober '94'), and my guess is that the same taper did both. Tool are just beginning their '94 US tour, and sounding sharp. Having fun with the crowd as usual, - poking fun at the neanderthals. The rest of the band is well-represented, however Maynard's voice gets buried on many of this songs. This is typical of many of the Undertow shows. Adam and Danny get cranked, MJ gets shoved in the background. But he's present enough in the mix, and you'll love it for the quality and performance.

Notes: Filmed dead center from the soundboard, the camera does not move and fixes on a wide-shot of the stage. It would be nice to see the band members faces, sweat beads dripping off, but if a camera has to stationary this is the angle to do it. The picture is better than you would expect from a 12 year old vhs transfer. Quite clear actually. And the sound, after suffering a constant static underneath for the first few songs, clears up and becomes very listenable. Tinny with an almost non-existant bass, but listenable. Unfortunately the static return toward the end. The floor turns into a swaying mass of crowd-surfing mosh at first earful of Cold & Ugly. The performance is another beautiful Undertow show - the first of their '94 North American headlining tour. The songs are performed very slow - probably the slowest I've ever heard them. A huge spacey weight floating across the venue. Not that the crowd cared. They seem more interested pushing and shoving each other around.
