Notes: New tape transfer of an alternate source. Following a review with mjk5510 and hrubesh we have established that there are 2 alternative sources with just one previous circulating source. The quality of this alternate source is very good with just occasional minor tape fluctuations, a little mic drift and occasional crowd noise. It appears that the very hot day kept the screamers subdued though there are some token efforts in places. This source is much superior to the circulating source. 2xTDK D90 cassettes.

Notes: LIVE ON THE BORN IN THE USA TOUR ONE DVD A new factory pressed dual-layer DVD (four hour playing time) release on the Watchdog label that features the complete performance from the concert at the Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia on 14th August 1985, plus 9 bonus tracks taken from the concert in Charlotte, NC on 16th January 1985. The label has supplied the following information regarding the source tapes for this release: "The source tape used for the Philadelphia concert has always been somewhat of a mystery, even though it has circulated among collectors for over fifteen years, mostly in what must be said very disappointing quality. The footage is clearly derided from the feed for the big screens used at the show, but the picture quality is no where near as good as other tapes that have emerged from these type of sources (notably the partial footage of the Toronto 26th July 1984 show) The story given to the compilers of this release, so please take it with however many grains of salt you wish, though it does seem a very plausible explanation, is that person responsible for making the recording did have access to the feed from somewhere, most likely a private box at the stadium (though that is a guess!) but was not able to be present during the recording, so the video recorder, most likely a domestic VHS deck of some kind, had to be set to long-play to make sure it captured the whole three hour set (most likely a two hour tape was used, which would give four hours recording time in long-play) This would explain two things; firstly the picture quality which is of a very grainy standard (and the many times it was copied led to further generational loss in VHS and more lately DVD copies that have done the rounds) with both the long-play factor and the non professional recording device really having a negative effect on the recording. Secondly, and unusually, there are no edits at all in the recording that rules out a more professional recording system (U-MATIC etc) and backs up the continuous recording for the whole performance which taking into account the interval and other gaps means a recording time well in excess of three hours, which can really only be obtained from the long-play recording detailed earlier. The copy of the source tape used for this release is reportedly only one copy removed from the original master tape, and has also been spruced up with some modern technology to look better than hopefully it has ever been seem publicly before, though to be honest, it will never pass for anywhere close to broadcast standard! The extra material on this release is taken from one of the January 1985 arena shows, in Charlotte, North Carolina on 16th January. The source tape for this release is incomplete, and covers just the bulk of the first set plus a couple of songs from early in the second set, and we have edited a couple of songs out due to major problems with drop outs and other tape damage. The source is plainly professional, with sound from a feed from the mixing desk, but is only one camera angle, centre stage straight on, though the camera is clearly a long way back (possibly right at the back) with a very powerful zoom, so while there are no real close ups, and in places the video is on the dark side, the footage is mostly very watchable. The reason for this footage to exist is not certain, it was perhaps recorded without permission, or possibly the equipment was set up for some kind of TV use, such as news footage or for clips to be used in some form of documentary, certainly it would not be of the quality required for any more detailed public use. Despite the flawed nature of the source recordings used for this set, we hope you enjoy this release that gives you an extended glimpse of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band when they were on top of the world!"
