Notes: | aud [2007-08-26]Has a strong Good Lovin' with a sustained, aggressive Garcia lead. On the LMA this post suggests the tape was not from Weinberg "Reviewer: peter_r - - December 31, 2004 Subject: The real story This encoding is almost certainly from cassettes with significant drop outs - I have the "originals" If somebody wants to do a better job, let me know at [email protected]. The story is: Yes, airplane played the war memorial that night and yes, Jorma and Jack did play, Grace announced that she'd love to sing for us but her voice was trashed.... There was a student named Bob Stone who made the live hand-held recording ( I don't know what equipment), intending to sell bootlegs on campus at U of R. I, and a few fellow dead-heads, conspired to liberate the music. Bob went away one weekend and we broke into his dorm room, "borrowed" the tapes, and recorded them from a Nakamichi cassette deck onto a TEAC open reel deck at 7.5 IPS using maxell tape. We rented an EQ from a local pro audio shop ( I forget the details). We then copied the master tape and made dubs for anyone who wanted them, but lots of what is out there is almost certainly 2nd or 3rd generation. My tapes DO suffer from absences in the late set with the airplane, but not some of the drop-outs and reel-flips or "nearby radio station". "

Notes: | notes: This is a reported Marty Weinberg audience recording. Many songs have been clipped at the beginning or end, though most of these cuts are minor. There are occasional, faint moments of static or degradation throughout this recording. Besides the flaws, which are minor, this is one of the better audience recordings of the year. Several large dropouts were adjusted, such that extremely low levels were normalized and smoothed over using Sound Forge: d1t06 @ 1:30 d1t06 @ 3:20 d1t09 @ 4:02 (irreparable) d1t09 @ 4:20 d1t09 @ 6:10 d2t03 @ 1:22 (irreparable) d2t05 @ 1:20 d3t07 @ 0:35 d3t09 @ 10:03 other notes: --reel flip @ 0:55 in FOTD --tape flutter at beginning of St. Stephen --it seems the recording has picked up a nearby radio station as overlapping music can be heard during parts of St. Stephen --the order of the songs is uncertain, as the placement of Good Lovin' is questionable.
