Garcia can clearly be heard saying this was the Dead's final set of the evening, and then Alligator begins.

There is clearly a Caution jam going into feedback so I tracked it separately. I started feedback where the drums stopped and it was only guitar feedback. Here's what deadlists has to say about this source COMMENTS The circulating copy of this that is MSR>Cass>DAT>CDR has an announcer who clearly states before Dark Star that the Grateful Dead played an earlier set. Circulating tapes all cut at the very beginning of New Potato Caboose and splice into the Feedback. DeadBase XI lists the end of this one as New Potato Caboose going into Alligator > Caution > Feedback > AWBYGN, which is probably just speculation on what's missing - but that would be a good guess based on the song list and time period. Notes: SBD>MR>C>D>CD>EAC>SHN patched with SBD>MR>R>D>CD>EAC>SHN Caveat: --From 0:36 in New Potato through the Alligator reprise, the quality drops off severely due to extremely low recording levels. Edits were made to raise the volume and reduce the hiss levels, which dominated the barely audible music. This portion was taken from the J. Powell/J. Barnes SHN seed and patched into a different SBD>MR>C>D>CD source---a source that has somewhat more noticeable hiss, though there are no significant raspy distortions that can be noticed on the MSR>R>D>CD source. Notes: --splice in New Potato at 0:36 (where the quality severely drops) --most of New Potato is missing --Alligator cuts in with a minute or two missing --there are probably a number of minutes missing after the Alligator reprise. Part of The Music Never Stopped Project 2003 Thanks to David Litfin, Jim Powell, and J. Barnes edits/encoding by JCotsman
