Memorial Day Ball - Other artist(s): Lee Michaels; The Youngbloods

The setlist for this performance is identical to the setlist for 05/11/69 and SHN 14018 appears identical to a recording attached to the May 11 date, SHN 6296. The weight of evidence favors May 11 as the correct date for a performance with these songs, and with Santana's percussion section sitting in on the Drums portion.

That does not mean that a performance did not occur on May 29 at the Robertson Gym, or that the same setlist wasn't played at both concerts. Therefore, this entry remains in the database, even though, as of Oct. 2016, it is likely that everyone who has this show on his list actually has a misdated copy of the performance from May 11.

Notes: 14018 (jim) Tape degradation at the beginning of Morning Dew - decreases throughout the track. Announcers are audible when Me & My Uncle cuts in - once they stop talking, the quality of the recording changes. As a result, this whole recording may be from a radio broadcast, or someone might have patched that bit in to a mildly degraded sbd. Alligator cuts in with vocals. deadlists.com: "There is at least one additional drummer (a conga player) involved in the prolonged percussion jam following Alligator, and probably several (sometimes said to be Santana's rhythm section). At the beginning of the drums someone (probably not Jerry) is playing guitar percussion (i.e. clicking a pick across damped strings). The "jams" interspersed are Jerry jamming with this percussion ensemble. There is also an unidentified additional vocalist audible twice during Lovelight. It is possible this tape is actually from 69-05-11.
