VHS -> DVD pro-shot in-house video with mono soundboard audio, and DAT stereo audience... |
Notes: |
Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 soundtrack mastering and DVD authoring and menus by TheTooleMan July, 2005
NTSC, full-screen format
The audience and soundboard recordings synched up nicely, so I was able to create a 5.1 mix using both sources. The mono soundboard soundtrack was remixed to stereo and sent to the front and center channels. The stereo audience recording, which highlighted both the crowd noise and bass, was sent to the rear and the subwoofer channels. The Dolby Digital 2.0 soundtrack is primarily from the in-house audio feed and should be used for playback through a TV sound system, where it may sound better than the 5.1 track mixdown.
Video quality is very good, looking like a transfer from the master VHS tape to DVD.

Yes
Soundboard/audience mix
Camden, NJ 8-8-02
This program was mixed from two sources: a mono soundboard recording from the pro-shot
in-house video at the venue in Camden, and the stereo DAT audience recording by TT,
which was previously treed on Yesswap. The recordings were mixed using Sonic Foundry's
Sound Forge 6.0 and Vegas 3.0. Audience track was compressed and equalized to remove
unwanted audience noise (approximately 1 octave range centered at 600 hz reduced -15 db).
Synchronization of the two sources was not too difficult. The soundboard recording had
some tiny gaps (4 to 6 frames in length) which caused the two recordings to lose sync, but
only after considerable time of playing together perfectly - in one case, about 20 minutes. |
