There is a 0.25-second dropout about 3:14 into T5 and the music is affected. (Three other songs are not included here: Tune Up, Walkin', & What's New.) Small pop at 1:30.805 - According to Peter Losin, three other tracks from this date are known to circulate: "Tune Up "Walkin'" and "What's New?". In addition, the complete show with 21 songs is known to survive in the SWR Baden-Baden archives but has never been released. - The core of the Birdland All-Stars for the November 1956 European tour was made up of Miles Davis (tpt);, Lester Young (ts), and the Urtreger Trio: René Urtreger (p), Pierre Michelot (b), and Christian Garros (d). - On both tracks offered here the Birdland All-Stars are joined by the Modern Jazz Quartet (MJQ), with Milt Jackson (vb), John Lewis (p), Percy Heath (b), and Connie Kay (d). - On the second track, "Lester Leaps In", the All-Stars and MJQ are joined by the Kurt Edelhagen Orchestra, which is made up of the rest of the musicians listed near the top not already mentioned in these notes. - The TLH analysis shows this at a high probability of mpeg. Further review has shown that it is more than likely due to it being a poor FM recording. I would love to see a better version of this surface. md5 a4d7ab315a1844c16cec6f735fba4d92 *md1956-11-12.LL42.d1t01.flac 9136bf1b75f7954a27a489627692f124 *md1956-11-12.LL42.d1t02.flac ffp md1956-11-12.LL42.d1t01.flac:1c4a3c6f6445319e9964ee28a4a27be4 md1956-11-12.LL42.d1t02.flac:e29e1272e5c0a81152d9e872afe7e94f st5 1c4a3c6f6445319e9964ee28a4a27be4 [shntool] md1956-11-12.LL42.d1t01.flac e29e1272e5c0a81152d9e872afe7e94f [shntool] md1956-11-12.LL42.d1t02.flac shntool length expanded size cdr WAVE problems filename 8:12.54 86915852 --- -- ---xx md1956-11-12.LL42.d1t01.flac 9:19.15 98642924 --- -- ---xx md1956-11-12.LL42.d1t02.flac 17:31.69 185558776 B (totals for 2 files, 0.5750 overall compression ratio) spectral analysis from TLH md1956-11-12.LL42.d1t01.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 92% md1956-11-12.LL42.d1t02.wav: track looks like MPEG with probability 79%
