Jimi Hendrix Experience
1968-08-03
Dallas, Texas
Southern Methodist University - Moody Coliseum
The torrent file and the info file that is downloaded with the audio files still identify this incorrectly as 8-8-68. The actual date was 8-3-68. I used an old setlist reference file has proven to be rather inaccurate. Sorry for my confusion.
Although this audience recording is not especially great sound quality, it is far better sounding than most Jimi Hendrix audience tapes because the vocals can be heard OK over the loud instruments. Although Jimi's guitar and the bass are rather distorted sounding, it sounds like a very accurate recording of how the show sounded live standing close to the very loud P.A. speakers.
This show is unique because I think that it is only circulating recording of Jimi doing the Traffic song, Dear Mr. Fantasy. (Jimi doesn't know the song too well, but does give it a good try anyway).
This version has been speed corrected by 4.6 percent.
