Remastered by ALS, May 2003.....The
May 16th soundboard does not include the opening track, "Blackbird." These remastered and complete versions contain an
audience patch for the missing tracks. Also, although I usually don't like to modify the music, I have made one minor
change. The opening of "Purple Haze" is botched in a manner that is both awful-sounding and dangerous to perfectly good
speakers and ear drums. I have taken the liberty of minimizing but not eliminating the offending passage.

See 5-15-93 comments. 5-15-93 and 5-16-93 complement each other very well and should trade as a set. |

This is the partner show to the one above when Sting was playing with the Grateful Dead. Knowing that with such a fanatical following as the Deadheads the audience would contain many of the same people both nights, Sting ensured his sets were entirely different from night to night. Together they make a good set, and I agree with Adam that they should probably be traded as a set, but I'll always give you one or the other, as you wish. Of the two, I like this one better. Again this is the soundboard copy, not the audience one that has circulated for so long. Again the first song, the Beatles cover "Blackbird", is spliced from the audience tape, but it makes the show complete. The rest is great soundboard stuff. Sting does a number of different tracks in this set. He claims they are "Song's you know but we don't" but that is a stretch! Other than "Blackbird" and another Beatles cover "Pennylane", Sting and his band were very familiar with the other covers they do! Still this is a great mix of different material for the "Fucking Awesome Foursome", Sting, Dominic, Vinnie and Dave. According to Sting Sanchez even plays guitar on a rocking "Purple Haze". Be warned though, although it seems to have been adjusted, the beginning of that track has some chronic feedback and would not be nice to ears or speakers if cranked up. Great stuff. Again I can't thank Mike enough for his kindness! |
