| Notes: | sbd cotsman [2007-05-24]Sound quality listenable but there is some hum and not as good as other boards around this era. Performance is one of the weaker ones of 77. Set 1 samples material in rotation. Set 2 has a "story telling" Terrapin, followed by the highlight of SS > NFA. It also has a rare encore of Truckin > OMSN. The most positive and deatiled LMA comment is "Stephen starts sluggish, and you almost want to forget about it. But patience pays. The jam begins around 5:15. At 5:37 or so, Jerry comes up with a compelling, new melodic new theme. It doesn't really go far, and fades. But at 6:45, he strikes his beautiful melodic diamond in the rough. He works it wonderfully until 7:26, and then its back to the last verse. This melodic workout is a precursor to the full-blow Ode To Joy he uncorks during 1-22-78, when we experience the second coming of Beethoven. The Not Fade is energetic, and driven, but not quite the maniacal third eye romp that is 1-7-78. The jam spins out and gets kind of quiet and contemplative after the nine minute mark, slowing the train into Stella. There is a short splice at around 7:40." | |||||
