Notes: sbd - partial "big jam portion". There are some sonic issues here. At least some static (not super bad but defintely noticeable) in the NFA> GDTRFB > NFA part. Thought I heard som epops etc. Anycase, there is some serious dankness going down on this portion. The jam in the NFA segment is about as far out there as I can remember them getting on this tune. The Dark Star > Jam > El Paso etc is also very tasty, with some spacey feedback and numerous melodic improv segments. See my review of teh Cotsman seed for some additional comments. I haven't tried to copare if Cotsman's seed has this same source for this segment. I just listened to this once to see about flaws etc. [2005-11-15]

Notes: sbd - most complete via cotsman as of 10/02. A handful of the tunes on this seed have degraded (B quality at best) sound, but all of the important jams and such have B+ or better sound. Show is a bit unusual in that late in set 1 they play Dark Star > El Paso > Jam > Casey Jones. set 2 (again shorter than set 1) continues with a bunch of short "set 1-ish" songs but ends with a strong NFA > GDTRFB > NFA rave up that contains in-your-face Garcia soloing (think of how he would later play strong leads in JGB). Though the Dark Star has its moments, its this NFA > GDTRFB > NFA that is the musical highlight. DS starts in a typical fashion with some thematic improv, 1st verse, followed by a meltodwn out of which comes a jam that has "Caution-ish" style improv. The OMSN is played very fast, followed by a humorous little bit of musical joking around to signal the end of set. The rest of the show has a rock-n-roll feel to it with similar high energy playing - Cumberland is a good example. Summary - the iffy sound on a few tracks will dissapoint many, but the two jams that happen in set 1 and set 2 you will most likely want to hear once. Because of this bi-modal distribution, I give this an A/B.

[2206-03-03] After BIODTL there sounds to be a tale end bit from another song that is not in the setlist. This show is on my must hear once list for the Dark Star sandwich in set 1 and the NFA>GDTRFB>NFA in set 2. The NFA espeically is string with a serious China Cat Jam and some raging Garcia wailing. The Dark Star is transitory between the early versions with feedback and the meandering melody versions of latter years.
