Notes: sbd pre-fm Seth Kaplan. Some banter as the PA etc is tuned up. Phil "Makes you howl like a hippy." Bobby "as they sayin the trade we have to dig with the mix." Some banter about Bob bringing his dog and telling the "Yellow dog" story while the PA is fixed. BRRB exhibits distortion on piano (similar to previous night). One of the few dates where Star > TOO. Both have an unhurried feel to them, giving time to develop their directions. Everyone in the band seems to be listening, not playing by rote, nothing over stayed. MAMU gathers momentum nicely as it begins, while reversing itself as TOO is re-entered. TOO does not completely disintegrate the melody. Shade of a Chinacat tease abefore the TOO theme coalesceses from the collective group think. A broken string, says Phil, wraps it up prematurely we presume. Deal follows and I'm thinking why they didn't use this tune to recover from a deep space voyage more often. It seems to explain what's left to say in the musical emotions without being trite. Brokedown gives another perspective. PITB has the jam we'll come to associate with this tune, but it is only a few minutes in length. Stated but unexplored. Is this a significant signpost in that songs evolution? Summary - set 2 is on the must hear list, sound is good but seems to be plagued by some distortion on the piano, but it is not severe to interfere with your enjoyment of the music. SOunds like a E72 show in its length and jam-ness.
