First show of tour with Lesh,Molo,Haynes,Barraco,Herring lineup. Audience tape- set 1 excellent sound. Set 2 sounds like the taper was much further back from stage (more reflected sound) or is a different source. No noteable flaws otherwise. The show is a solid performance, but later shows in tour have both better playing and sound. Appropriately for Burlington, it does have Wolfman's Brother as an encore. I'd be interested in improving the set 2 sound if you have a good source. |

Notes: |
Clear sounding audience tape but bass is low. A more recent (6/20/2004) bit accuracte transfer of this source has appeared so this is not the preferred one. |

Notes: |
bk4011 - very nice sound on this FOB'ish seed. Most likely this is the best seed for this night, the first full night of the PLQ lineup. Only one minor glitch. This show doesn't have the killer setlists of the dates later on in the tour (features songs more than jams which doesn't play to Phil's strengths, i.e. singing). Has more open style, less cacaphony style playing than what they evolve to by 2002. |

oktava (bit accurate retransfer),no flaws, nice clean sound. First public show with the Haynes/Herring lineup that will become known as the PLQ. No specific highlights - typical of what this lineup will sound like on any night. [6/23/2004] |
