| Notes: | bbd [2007-06-10]Sound wise kick drum too high in the mix and occasional overload. Not a strong 77 show. People seem to rave about it since its in 77. "Another one of those shows in a peak year like 1977, where its companion show - 10/2, completely overshadows it. Tonight is sort of the warm up, with neither the great song sets nor the longer and more developed jams like Wheel> Truckin> Other One from the second night. But hey, you can't keep listening to the same handful of great 1977 shows over and over again! Set Two is better than I had remembered it. The Estimated is funky and in the pocket rhythmically (but what is that strange popping/flapping noise briefly on the master?). Eyes blasts off at a fast pace and ends with a brief Phil solo before leading us into the Dancin riff. Not one of my favorite songs, but this version is quite good, with some tasty guitar work from Jerry at the end. Then the standout for me - Black Peter, not played since the Winterland Oct 1974 shows." | |||||
