Notes: Hopkins aud complete show. The "bust out" of St. Stephen and the following Eyes is extremely good. The jam in St. Stephen in particular is one of the best that I have heard. Good aud tape - captures what it was like to be at the show. No between song cuts. This is one of the best shows from 76. [Note: I created a shn set w/ de-emphasis. This seemed to match the spectral sound other auds sourced around 6/2003 direct from the master cassettes, suggesting that Dolby might have been used on the originals but not decoded in the transfer to DAT.]

Notes: set 2 sbd w/ aud patch at start of St. Stephen. FWIW, I attended this show, row L if I remember. The breakout of St. Stephen was very exciting. Everyone had "LiVe/Dead" engrained in their synapses so the slower pace and with Donna singing was constantly compared in my head with the recorded version. The jam is very nice. As the come to the end, everyone was wondering of they would do "11". Maybe after being on hiatus they woul dbreak back some of these oldies, but the "answer" was Eyes. Interesting. Overall Set 2 lacks an overall cohesion that would develop later on. It consists of a few continuous sections, again with very attentive playing for the most part without the sustained jams of yore. Sound and mix is very good. Note that at the end, Jerry says: "See you 'all later". In my experience, he only says this on dates when he's had a good time. One other note: Th eMusic Hall had seats so there was a strong tendency for evryone to say seated. Maybe that is why their playing was more "listening" focused than "danceable".

Notes: set 1 sbd w/ aud patches. Somewhat hissy but listenable. All songs are played very deliberately starting the attempt to be "just exactly perfect" and avoid wankery at all costs. Though there are interesting moments and many songs here will eventually migrate to set 2 status, by and large not much emotion.

Notes: sbd/aud matrix - I was very pleased with this matrix by Chris. Really captures the feeling of being there (which I was) by adding that hall ambiance and well placed audience whoops in the right places. Couple of comments - I remember watching Jerry who seemd to be concentrating very hard and looking at the other musicians - you can tell they had practiced some and wanted to seehow there new sound played at a real venue. Also, with the theater seats it was more a "listen and pay attention" show than a "dance and move about" show. I liked seeing them here and not at the Garden. The Stephen > Eyes > LIG works here (and I'm not a LIG fan). Definitely get this source if you want to hear a well played 76 show characteristic of that year.

Mickey's percussion is high in the mix on Dancin'

This show has some good moments but it also has lots of pauses and features more than its fair share of slower tunes that impart a sit down concert feel to the evening. Usually shows that start with CR&S are good, and set 1 has a mixup of tunes like Scarlet, Cassidy, Crazy Fingers but somehow it doesn't click as much as it should. Set 2 starts strong with a SS > EOTW > LIG but then we get a BEW and in general Jerry picks slow tunes while Bobby selects rock tunes and as they alternate it gets confusing. Franklin's Tower as an encore is unusual and good.
