Notes: This is a GREAT show with superb sound quality. One funny side note. There are 2 audience patches to cover reel flips or whatever. When I was listening to the show at work with headphones and the patches were played, I thought the headphone jack had come out and the music was being blasted at high volume on the computer speakers! What about the show itself? Set 1 candidate for the best ever? You counter, "after hearing so many shows how can you say this?" My logic - the songs made me pay attention to them. They are played and sung with gusto and none of them have notable jams! Row Jimmy was especially good. You listen and tell me what you think. On to set 2. HCS very good (some say its the longest/best). But the meat is the DS>Eyes>Stella sequence which I think is a great combination. Dark Star has lots of sustained Phil bass feedback and in general the first half is played in a non-frenetic feedback style. It turns jazzy at the end going into Eyes. This show is up there for all time top 50 concerts in my book. d1t1 pop @00:30 [2005-11-21: Listened to this after ~2 years since above comments. Stands up - from TLEO through end of set 1 the band seems to play with lots of flourish and spunk. HCS is very strong. DS starts out without any rush and gathers steam slowly, great Bill jazz drumming. Best show of 12/73 so far.]

The Dark Star is instrumental with many little themes, not too abstract/dark or atonal. HCS and EOTW are excellent as well.
