My friend Geetarz contributes the following comments: If 1985 was the year that put Eric Clapton back on the map in a big way, with Live Aid, after a couple more years of increasing visibility, 1988 was the year where EC regained his place in the popular culture as "the" guitar player to many. With the paradigm shift of the groundbreaking "Crossroads" box set, EC set out on a "25th Anniversary Tour". Earlier in the year, EC had joined Dire Straits for a series of performances, and Mark Knopfler returned the favor, joining EC on tour. The tour ended in Japan, home to many of EC's most devoted and appreciative fans, who were also treated to the inclusion of Elton John into the band as well for a few shows. Portions of the November 2nd performance were broadcast on television and radio. This special Geetarz / Button collaboration combines a *Super VHS* video master from a collector in Japan, with the best available audio, the impeccable "Les Trois Mousquetaires" (Mid Valley 42/43).
