| Notes: | Frank Zappa October 14th 1975 Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall Kansas City, KS Typically, I like my recordings like I like my info.txt files - long, even bordering on gratutious if at all possible. However, this is one abridged recording that's near the top of my favorites list. The part that's missing is the most boring of a Fall 75 show (not having the Illinois Enema Monologue is a bonus, in my eyes), and what's remaining is the part which really keeps this tour kickin'. We get the not-played-often-enough WOIIFTM Medley, a melodic Chunga's, a surprisingly enjoyable Advance Romance, an always-lovely Zoot Allures - and then we get The Highlights. Swallow My Pride is an enjoyable little number, and the boogie (bear?) jam which it inspires is always fun. What's best of all is that it leads into the early, HEAVY METAL Any Downers, and Frank's on fire with this one - going from sheets of molten, angry metal to a very catchy boogie rock-n-roll riff before you know what's happening, then dissolving into a classic (Foggy G. summed it up quite well: "stupid but funny") Joe Cocker routine, which carries into Camarillo Brillo - the first verse is completely obliterated by imbecilic (but very funny), incoherant moans and groans from "Frank Cocker". All this, plus great sound. Definitely a show to check out.
