Notes: In the first two songs, the snare drum and toms are mixed far too loud. When they hit, they dominate everything else and put a real strain on your ears. This improves after Stinkfist, but the bass then spreads a layer of mud underneath the sound for the rest of the show. The snare drum problem returns during Pushit and overall the mix is just atrocious here, a song that requires precision instrument balance to succeed live. But that aside, the recording is quite good and clear, and I think the above problems have more to do with the venue and PA mix than the recording. The show has a raw feel to it. I think it has to do with the sound of the recording, a loud acoustically-unfriendly venue, the way they play the songs, and the crowd participation. Nothing is played super tight but all songs have a great energy to them. Eulogy exemplifies this raw but energetic feel. The tempo is flying in the beginning jam and there are a few mistakes here but the groove is hard and soaring through the Pavillion. The crowd then erupts in singing when the band drops into “so long” – heavy and slamming are Danny, Justin and Adam. You can feel the crowd’s enjoyment on this song. At the end, MJ drops out singing the “to ascend you must die” verse (where’d he go?), but comes bounding back in with a strong “Goodbyeeeee.” Surprisingly, Stinkfist could be the best song tonight. It has a good up-tempo groove, great presence floating across the venue and Maynard sounds as perfect as possible singing this song. They keep this edgy tempo throughout most of the show, a nice departure from other ’97 spring shows at which they play with a real laid back tempo. This works well with some songs like Stinkfist, but others sound a little disjointed like 46&2.

Notes: *awesome show* *awesome Third Eye* Maynardism- So I'd like to clear up a little misconception about the band if I could. Alot of people think that just because there's alot of energy coming off the stage like this that we're all about hate and violence and stuff like that. And that's just not the case. We're about alot of things. Unity, evolving thoughts and ideas, choosing compassion over fear, emotional stuff, and anger which is okay. Anger is constructive. Not hate. Hate is destructive.
