Box it together with my previous post, the 'Balcony Video' , which contains ALL the existing footage shot by Jan Blom from the balcony. Then you have a nice double DVD. To make the whole experience even better, I have included the film that was shot that night of the VOICES OF EAST HARLEM, the support act of the Band Of Gypsys in the Fillmore. I know, it makes the file bigger, and the download longer, but I think it wil give everybody a chance to re-live that night even closer and more intense.I hope you all agree. About the source of this tape: This DVD was burned on a sony HD/DVD recorder from a PAL-VHS cassette ( unfortunately with time-code numbers ). The VHS was a direct copy of a PAL-BETACAM master that was pulled directly from the original reel-to-reel masters back in 1990 ( when the tapes were in much better condition compared to 10 years later, when Experience Hendrix used the tapes for the commercial release of the Band Of Gypsys DVD. Also you can see everything on this video is completely unedited from beginning to end of every reel. I think this tape is a major upgrade to the other tapes that are floating around. | Notes: | RAW UNCUT reel-to-reel B&W footage from the Band of Gypsies fillmore concert on 1 1 1970. It's 53 minutes of video, all shot from the balcony on a reel-to-reel recorder by Jan Blom. This is quite different from the commercial DVD release: It is the uncut direct footage of the high balcony camera angle ( the Blom angle) . It is in PAL and transferred with lesss noise reduction, therefore a little more grain and drop-outs , but in my opinion more sharpness and detail in the blacks than on the BOG DVD, which was released in poor NTSC. I do apologize for the TimeCode, as this DVD was made from a direct VHS from the mastertapes. | |||||
