Notes: This is actually one of the better Tool VHS vid > cdr transfers you are going to hear. This is a 3rd gen transfer from my 2nd gen copy I supplied Galen P., and it has a rich depth for a vid sound. Some pops/crackles common to VHS, but very good. Absolutely Amazing show. Sometimes this can be overused as a descriptor, but here I definitely mean it.

Notes: This may well qualify as the most beautifully bizarre Tool video I have, and my favorite of all time. But be warned: this is not your normal, shot-straight-on to the stage film, so this video is not for everyone. That said, Let's start with the camera angle: this show was filmed close up, -parallel- to the stage (almost behind the band) on Justin's side. The venue apparently had some sort of balcony seating for a few crowd members, wrapped around closely to the side of the stage, and somehow this filmer managed to sneak a cam up there. The Effect: This is the band and their music almost like you've never experienced it before, on their most important tour. It feels like you are on stage with them. Very intense. The Recording Quality: The sound is very good. Nice instrument mix, and a surprisingly rich low end for a video. The filming wanders at times, it is dark, the first half of Third Eye is cut, Danny is featured rarely, and there is an overhanging light rig in the way at all times (it doesn't interfere that much), but these things aside - what he does capture is mesmorizing. The Performance: Tool is ON ON ON this night. All members are locked in, and MJ is doing his best shuck and dive movements. Really too bad the 1st half of Third Eye went missing. All this, and the filmer keeps the cam rolling for a few minutes at the end of the show. This catches a charming little conversation between him and his friend about weed, starvation, and longing for some waffles :) As an aside, the trader I got my original VHS from WAS the friend in the video the filmer was talking to. Apparently he was on security watch that night, as his friend recorded. He said they looked hard for a better place to film in the venue, but because of tight security, his friend felt safest in this side balcony area. Hence, the odd-angled video. I'm personally glad it worked out that way!
