| Notes: | Notes from Garaj Mahal at the Avalon Ballroom, SF CA, 10-31-03 The sonic quality of this recording suffers, in my opinion, from too heavy a hand on the bottom frequencies*, particularly in the earlier part of the evening. Later, the sound improved, both in sonic quality and in the levels of Fareed and Eric in the mix. The stage mic was placed center lip on the stage, and the house mics were mounted on stands on either side of the stage in front of the stacks about 8 ft. high and 3 ft. from the stacks. * due to a lot of "hunting & pecking" by the soundboard engineer. Gear used: Stage mic: Crown SASS P Mk 2 stereo condenser PZM (pressure zone microphone). House mics: Crown CM-700 cardioid condensers, 1 per PA main stack. Mixer: Shure FP-42.
