Roy Martin\'s Music Collection (5/5) FLAC / 0 View   In Rainbow Light (AD146)
Notes: The first completely complete version of the famous 4th Rainbow show. I assembled this with multiple master tapes provided to me by WRomanus. I've seen versions of the first set fixed (Best And The Rest Of Tour 72) but I was never happy with the segues. As far as it goes this is the most complete this show is going to get. The only thing I didn't include was the first 20 seconds of the beginning, as this is just mic noise as the taper sets up his gear. These tapes are of varying qualities and generations, but I've done my best to make the transitions painless. I used NR and hiss reduction only when it was necessary, mostly during the tune ups. I stereo spatialized everything not from Best Of Tour 72 so it would sound more like that does.

Notes: -Sources and Assembling- by }{eywood I assembled this with multiple master tapes provided to me by WRomanus. I've seen versions of the first set fixed (Best And The Rest Of Tour 72) but I was never happy with the segues. As far as it goes this is the most complete this album is going to get. The abbreviations for the master tapes are as follows: BOT72 = Best Of Tour 72. 1st pressing pristine vinyl. MC = Master Clone - A Copy of the Master (?) of what I believe to be taper 2. Not that tonally brilliant, but a good clean recording. JB = 1st gen incomplete source of 20th Feb recorded by John Baxter, provided to us by LordSnooty. The only thing I didn't include was the first 20 seconds of the beginning, as this is just mic noise as the taper sets up his gear. These tapes are of varying qualities and generations, but I've done my best to make the transitions painless. I used NR and hiss reduction sparingly, mostly to get the patches to sound as clean as the main album material. I stereo spatialized everything not from Best Of Tour 72 so it would sound more like that does. The BOT72 (and all subsequent versions) slows down gradually during the second half of Money and continues until the break in Us and Them where the piece is missing. I speed corrected this. Heart Beat Intro, the bulk of Us And Them and the ending of Eclipse are from JB. I filled the missing portion in Time with MC.

Notes: Title: Best Of the Rainbow -REVISION#2!! Date: Feb 20,1972 Location: Rainbow Theatre, London label: happy Pig setlist: DISC ONE 1-11. DSOTM (mostly SBD or superb Aud) rest is Vg+/Ex- aud 12. One Of These Days 13. Careful With That Axe Eugene DISC TWO: (missing in this torrent) 1. Echoes 2. Saucerful Of Secrets 3. Blues 4. Set The Controls Comments: ok my latest revision that was torrented this year(2005) still had some errors. the aud portion of us and them was amplified too much! which caused a distorion noise in the chorus'. here i fixed us and them. this is the best i could fix this without redoing it! disc2 was fine so no need to re-torrent it. for the new guys: this is a composite of an aud source and a supposed sbd source. both are the best sounding sources for this show IMO. the supposed sbd source seems to have nr applied but im not the one that did it. it still sounds superb though. the aud source comes from a Master>minidisc>CDR source. it is not nearly as good but is about ex-/vg+ the whole DSOTM is from the supposed sbd except "us and them" and 10sec of "Time" and the end of "eclipse". OOTD and Careful are completely from the Aud source.

Notes: My sources were "Best Of Tour 72, original master series" (called FM Master on some traders lists, which is a SBD and if its not, it sounds like one). And The Rainbow Vol.4. No remastering was done to Rainbow Volumes except increase in volume. No NR used. -A Happy Pig Production-
