Notes: Peter Gabriel live at the Empire Theatre Liverpool, UK 18 September 1983 audience shot artwork included It is an audience shot, so don't expect too much. However, it's highly enjoyable and one of the few video recordings from that tour as far as I know. Some parts, such as Solsbury Hill, suffer from noise or tape hiss. However, this is a wonderful document of Peter Gabriel's solo era before he became an absolute superstar. For those wondering how to start the video, you have to click the "peter gabriel" logo in the menu to start the film. No song selection possible in the menu, but chapters have been set so you can skip to the next song. This was originally authored by KingLerch of GMDVD, the Genesis Museum trading group. Here are the original GMDVD notes: Taken from a 1st Generation source (thanks to Maurizio) this is the best video available from the 'Plays Live' tour. There are some great close-ups and only a small portion of the concert is missing. Still, it was filmed without a tripod using equipment available in the early 1980s so it is far from perfect. Video was encoded at 6MBPS and DD 5.1 audio at 384k. Some remastering was done to open up the high end in the center and rear channels for a fuller sound. Some areas where the camera's microphone was hit out by the crowd was cleaned up as much as possible. Total time 95 minutes.
