Notes: "Vibratory Fillmore Merge" (Final version 2.01) Fillmore East New York City, NY December 31st, 1969 2nd show Hi Folks! This merge was compiled from the best sources available. -The Hellman tape(3rd source) was de-hissed above 13Khz untill 13:40 into Stone Free, -above 15Khz after 13:40 into Stone Free. -2nd Source was de-hissed above 12500Hz -The Soundboard (1st) source wasn't touched. Audience sources were used complimentary to the soundboard source. It sounds less claustrophobic due to hall acoustics. Last three songs were not recorded on the soundboard tape. These songs exist only on the audience tapes. Merge: 2nd source (The-Forget- About-It tape)right channel. 3rd source (Hellman tape) left channel. Soundboard Stereo in the middle. Sector boundaries have been taken into account, so you can safely burn the tracks without zero data gaps. Disc One: 01. Also Sprach Zarathustra 02. Auld Lang Syne 03. Who Knows 04. Stepping Stone 05. Notes: Fillmore East New York City 31.12.1969; 2nd Show 2nd Audience Source: "The Hellman Tape" Mono Audience recording - Raw version Total time: 98 min Presumably 1st generation but more likely 2nd or 3rd generation** * *** The generation is uncertain, but is probably 2nd or 3rd Gen. Unfortunately the cassette dub was screwy, so the sound is worse than a typical Low Gen tape. In particular, some sections are noisy due to low record levels. "Foxy Lady" (74) is one of those poor sounding sections, while "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" (63) and "Purple Haze" (83) probably are the best recorded songs. The tape is generally worse sounding than the 1st Aud Source, but "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" (63) and "Purple Haze" (83) are similar quality, maybe even a little better. Notes: - The Cassette dub consists of 6 segments, which all run too fast and have different input levels: Segment 1: Cassette peak level -10 dB, CDR input level 10, 12.3% fast: Crowd noise intro "Auld Lange Syne" (2) "Who Knows" (8) {cut} "Stepping Stone" (14) "Burning Desire" (4) "Fire" (66) "Ezy Rider" (15) {cut after start, resumes in the middle} {cut} Segment 2: Cassette peak level +1 dB, CDR input level 7, 11.3% fast: "Machine Gun" (11) {very end cut} "Power Of Soul" (42) {very end cut} {cut} Segment 3: Cassette peak level +1 dB, CDR input level 7, 16.4% fast: Talk {cut} "Stone Free" (20) [part 1] {cut after 2/3rds} {cut} Segment 4: Cassette peak level -15 dB, CDR level 10, SFp2=9.9% fast, others 14.1% fast: "Stone Free" (20) [part 2] {last 1/3rd, some overlap with part 1} {cut} "Changes" (4) {dropout in the middle} {cut} "Message To Love" (24) "Stop" (2) {dropout/cut in the middle} {cut} Segment 5: Cassette peak level -15 dB, CDR level 10, 13.5% fast: "Foxy Lady" (74) {cut} Segment 6: Cassette peak level 0 dB, CDR level 7, 10.4% fast: Crowd chant for more Tuneup "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" (63) "Purple Haze" (83) {dropout/cut before the end) {cut}. - The 2nd Aud Source includes 9 min's of "new" material: a)1-2 minutes of crowd noise and instrument checks between the LP playback of "Auld Lang Syne" and Jimi's live version (2) b)2-3 minutes of the end of "Foxy Lady" (74) and a quick tease of "Purple Haze" followed by 2-3 minutes of the crowd calling for "MORE!" c)2-3 minutes of tuneup and the intro to "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" (63).
