Notes: Pink Floyd Gelenkirchen 23rd August 1994 Dual layer dvd Linage: very low generation vhs - Panasonic DMR EZ48V vhs dvd recorder - Cyberlink powerproducer to you. Format: Pal Aspect ratio: 4:3 A friend of mine pinksmilecollector provided me the tape to transfer to dvd which he received in a trade. It took 3 dvds to capture the whole show then i put it on one dual layer disk with the basic menu and not chaptered to each song through cyberlink powerproducer, but it is chaptered every couple songs though. The footage is raw as from the vhs tape and not edited etc I have heard this show was uploaded here on Yeeshkul as a dvd but only 1.3gigs in size?.Not sure if this is the same source. I have used the vhs tape and transfered it in highest possible resolution on the dvd recorder. The dvd opens with some computer animation in 90's technology by the name yabba doo and has some nice audio attached at the beginning and graphics of the solar system and some pyramids.. The audio is very nice too. Personally i think this is an awesome dvd to watch as the person captured the stage view pretty much all the way through and is dead centre in front of the sound board desk and not much obscured views of heads etc and is very steady too.. The lights, lazers, smoke is the best you will see for an outdoor show. This show is also significant to me as I was there sitting high in the stands to the left on this cool night and was a misty fog about which helped the lazers immensely as they were reaching the clouds. I thought this show was really worth the effort to upload to yeeshkul as a proper dvd in dual layer. set list 1. astronomy Domine 2. Learning to Fly 3. What do you want from me 4. Notes: Pink Floyd Live in Gelsenkirchen "Enjoy it, Gabi" August 23rd, 1994 First released on www.echoeshub.com, February 2008 Lineage: Video: Hi8 Master-Tape -> WinTV PVR 150 -> DVD Lab Pro2 -> You Audio Track 1: Hi8 Master-Tape -> Sony ES60 -> Digital IN -> EQ, Dynamics -> You Audio Track 2: Hi8 Master-Tape -> WinTV PVR 150 -> DVD Lab Pro2 -> You (unaltered) Cam: Sony CCD V800E Tracklist: Disc 1: about 20 Minutes soundscape (see below) Astronomy Domine Learning To Fly What Do You Want From Me On The Turning Away Poles Apart Take It Back Sorrow Keep Talking One Of These Days Disc 2: Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts I - V) Breathe Time Breathe (reprise) High Hopes The Great Gig In The Sky Wish You Were Here Us And Them Money Another Brick In The Wall - part 2 Comfortably Numb Hey You Run Like Hell About this recording ==================== This is my third recording (after Basel 1988 and Basel 1994) i made from Pink Floyd shows. There are several recordings of this show, so i decided to call it BCTR-DVD3-1 and BCTR-DVD3-2 to keep them apart. BCTR is an abbrevation from "Bang Center", a comment i read about the Backdrops of Basel-DVD ( -> http://www.pf-db.com/index.php?concert_id=721&bootleg_id=3367 ) "...stage but bang center...". As this was my favorite position for taping all three shows i decided to call them BCTR. All songs are complete, i changed tape and battery during the breaks. About BCTR-DVD2, Live in Basel 1994-08-06 ========================================= If you like the "Backdrops in Basel"-DVD KoolKat made from a 42nd-something-generation-copy of the mastertapes, watch out for BCTR-DVD2-1 and BCTR-DVD2-2 which ARE from the master-tapes and therefore have the same quality as this Gelsenkirchen-show. Same camera, same position. About the camera ================ See the sonycam.png Image in the artwork and info directory to see the actual camera the show was taped with. As you see this stone-aged-monster you perhaps understand some of the blackouts in the show: As soon as a security (or someone looking like one) walked by i took the cam down immediately. If it shooks, that's because even if you want (yes, you REALLY want :-) ) to tape the show the cam becomes heavier and heavier during the show. About the soundscape: I simply turned the camera on and left it in my backpack. That's why the soundscape at the beginning is very bad audio quality, in my opinion. I decided to take the camera out when the show starts (and everyone is looking at the stage instead of me). And i also wanted to release a _complete_ copy of the master tapes. Do not sell. Enjoy. Trade for free. Feel also free to grab from this recording what you want. Feel free to release another version if you are more familiar with sound-engineering as i am. Please keep this original-info file on any re-release. gs, February 2008
