Notes: Here’s one of my favourite ever R.E.M. bootlegs. I converted this to CD a long time ago, and I shared it with a couple of people (literally 2, maybe 3 people). Since then I’ve added some new track IDs which I missed first time around. This is pretty darned clear recording, I couldn’t do much at the time about the slight hiss which is on it. Mp3 attached below. It’s great for a number of reasons. 1. It’s a decent recording. 2. If you like a bit of crowd banter between songs, this is a peach, at one point some bloke in Lancashire accent starts banging on about 12 year-old groupies, I know not why. 3. This is the one where the PA breaks down and the band fill-in with style: playing the instrumental 'Walk, Don't Run' and then the folk song 'If I Had A Hammer' until it was fixed. Between 'If I Had A Hammer' and 'So You Want To Be A Rock'n'Roll Star' Michael says "The first time this has ever happened to us, and we're going to celebrate with a really bad song" 4. I love Peter’s raw attacking guitar sound on this recording. Unbelievably there is a video recording (now on DVD of course) of this show, but beware, the band are partially obscured by pillar.
