Do not sell the music you download here. I donft care whatever stupid reason you might have. If you do that, you will become a shape-changing creature called gBOOTLEGGERh.
Please do not encode this to MP3 or other lower sound quality formats. If you want to re-master this, please do so for your own personal pleasure but do not even think about seeding it here or any other place. It is confusing, to say the least for many different versions of the same show to be floating around the trading community.

Recording Info & Sound Quality
Tom recorded the entire show at the relatively right side of the floor, a few feet away from gsweet sounding spoth. This is almost perfect audience recording: the high is clear and the low is loud enough. His recording gear & its setting sacrifices a little bit of the bass sound for more clear high so that the guitar & the drum could be more up-front. Tom likes this kind of setting. No much clapping and no screamer around him. It surely deserves a 5 star rating. Listening to this recording with your eyes closed, you would feel like you were right there. Tom is fully satisfied with the sound quality. No EQ / no sound altering soft-ware used.
Jerry also recorded the whole show with his usual microphone set-up. His microphone and the bass-roll sacrifices high end for more bass. Jerry likes this gmore bassh setting. Personally I think that Jerryfs version is better than Tomfs. Using a little bit of EQ, I think that I could make this version a real killer. But Jerry would not allow me to seed his recording this time. This is because Jerry is not happy with this Japanese guy downloading shows here and selling them to Japanese bootleg lovers. No matter what I said, his reply is always the same: gsad, sad, sad, you canft always get what you want.h I hope that he will soon change his mind soon.
Performance & Show Review
I have several Jefffs shows from the past Japan tour. This show must be one of the best but I bet my expectation is a little bit higher than the most peoplefs is. So please bear that in your mind when you read my (rather long) comments.
The band did not click at first and sounded like they needed a few more days for rehearsal before they hit the road. As the show went on, the band sounded better but it did not take off after all. Jeff was not in the top form but still delivered the goods. He seemed very relaxed and did not wear that nasty pissed off look on his face. He kept on smiling and grinning all through the night. Jefffs guitar was pretty up-front but he did not interact with other musicians much. The following is the musicians handpicked by Jeff for this Japan tour.
Vinnie Colaiuta ? drums
Pino Palladino - bass
Jason Rebello - keyboards
Jimmy Hall - vocal
Jennifer Batten ? guest guitarist for the encore
They looked impressive on their resumes but not much so on Jefffs music. My first impression on them is: Vinnie is a fine fine drummer for Sting but not for Jeff. Pino is also a versatile bass player working with many artist. He is OK but does not have to be the one for Jeff. Jason sounded too timid to play with Jeff. He tried to play less and to leave more space in the sound for Jeff to fill in. The unexpected surprise is Jimmy Hall. gPeople get readyh belted out by Jimmy saved the day. He got the whole crowd up out of their seats swinging and moving to Jefffs music. Jennifer is a real treat for Osaka. She is one of the most underrated and underappreciated guitarists. But she played only a couple of the encore tunes. It might sound funny to you but I wished Jimmy had sung more songs and Jennifer played more solos.
Most people I met at the show said to me gthis is one of the best Jefffs shows they eever seenh They may be right but I thought to myself gthe best is yet to comeh
Frankly after the first show in Osaka I got the overall impression of a not much clearly-focused, less spontaneous, but well-packaged band Jeff got for this time. I guess I just tried to comfort myself by thinking that I should not expect too much from a sixty something rock legend.------------------- But very next day I changed my mind completely. The second night in Osaka Jeff and his band whipped up more energy than expected.
At the next dayfs show Jeff proved himself that he got the best band in town. The music bursting from his guitar and the whole band is spontaneous, inspiring and totally different from the previous night. This is the third time I saw him play but had never seen him fired up. The energy that radiated from the whole band has ever-changing spectrums: hard-hit hotrod, delicate incredible soft touch & feel, dynamics with inventiveness----------- No word describes it. This must be this yearfs best live show for me. Could be better than R.E.M. I will soon seed a July 9th show. But for the time being, please enjoy a July 8th show.
About titles
During the show I stood up and looked around me to see many Japanese Jeff-wannabes drop their jaws to the floor and completely mesmerized. This awestricken crowd was actually frozen on their seats, which was very rare for a rock concert in Osaka. They didnft seem to care to get on their feet nor to make big noises as if totally in the state of shock. Or in the total concentration?? I guess they didnft want to miss even a single guitar stroke. Rather quietly but immensely they enjoyed & appreciated Jefffs music.
gJeff is guitar godh said a worn-out Japanese businessman sitting right next to me. He also went on to say gJeff often uses a spur-of-the-moment lick and brings out the unbelievable sound that I have never heard before. It just blew me away, the way the wall of sound temporarily demobilizes meh. I could not catch all he was bubbling over. But all we agree that Jeff is one of a kind.
gJeff Beck isn't your typical guitar legend. His goal, in fact, is to make you forget that he plays guitar.h(epic record site: http://www.jeffbeckmusic.com/)
He does not play an instantly recognizable guitar sound. Sometimes his guitar sounds like the synthesizer or the bass while the synthesizer or the bass sounds like the guitar. His guitar merging, blending in and metamorphosing with various instruments is the key ingredients for his music. I felt that his live show sounds three or four-dimensional.
Jeff Beck generally isnft held in the same high regard as his contemporaries Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton in the U.S and other parts of the world. Here in Osaka (only?) in Japan, all those Japanese fans I talked to kept on praising and admiring Jefffs guitar and his works. They think that Jeff is in a class by himself and in a different league.
I named this gAll the Old Dudesh after all those gentle, kind and enthusiastic Japanese fan of Jeff who taught me so much about Jeff.
Get this show. You wonft regret it.
