Dream Baby Dream Notes: With all due respect to Travitz's recording, this version is a great exercise in how better seating doesn't necessarily equate to better sound. Nicky & I saw where Travitz was sitting before the show started and figured he would most likely get the better pull of this night. How can you argue with dead center and 3-4 rows back from the stage, right? Well, we seemed to have the good fortune of sitting directly below the stacks that extended out into the floor from both sides of the stage. When I listened to show that Travitz posted the following morning, I enjoyed it but I remember thinking that I heard something different from my seat. So now that Nicky has had a chance to transfer his copy, I'm happy to confirm my suspicions and offer it back to the group that has given me so much of the D&D tour, as well as numerous other nuggets. Again, many thanks to Jeff for recording his version, and then posting it to Dime about 7 hours after Bruce left the stage. But I think this version is the better of the two...nice fat levels, crisp in-your-face instruments/vocals, and no interfereing crowd noise. Take note that these rigs are very similiar (Travitz uses MK4V, while this is simply the 4's) and were approximately 50' apart from each other during the show- the difference in sound is quite significant (see comparison sample below). Hope everyone enjoys this one.
