Notes: New master by Shaun Toole December 26, 2002 This recording was a mess. The performance was great, but the PA kept malfunctioning. On top of that, the taper couldn't keep his tape running or resist rubbing the microphone. Still, I like this show a lot. It's interesting to listen to Yes fight their way through their set without coming totally unglued and admitting defeat. In fact, they're victorious. And the audience loves 'em. Notes on the new master: I patched a couple of spots using only material from this recording. No other material was introduced from other dates. In addition, I edited out a number of ragged cuts so that they are either unnoticeable or less noticeable, depending on how familiar you are with the songs. There was no way around the large cut in Ritual; it was already a shambles, but I think I managed to at least keep the beat going. And if Yes was using a quadraphonic system at this venue, the front speakers must have cut out during Total Mass Retain (CTTE), and several other times, as things abruptly get very distant-sounding. I pulled the levels up so that the change is less dramatic, but you'll hear it, without a doubt. Note that this version replaces the previous "new" master, which was dated 11/2002, as it had some cuts in TRSOG that I did not find the first time through and some silent spaces at the end of a couple of tracks which were unintentionally left intact. That's all been fixed up, and I just finished playing the entire show start to finish. It rocks.
