Notes: (please correct me if I'm wrong) this appears to be the only circulating recording of Close To The Edge with Squire on bass from the nearly 20 years of Yes history between the end of the GFTO tour and the San Luis Obispo shows in 1996. Not a perfect recording, somewhat distant and echo-y and there are occasionally well-captured nearby audience members and audience noise that tends to overpower the music when the audience initially recognizes a song and starts cheering, but generally pretty good in that respect. Seems to be lacking in low end, while I listened to this I often wondered where Squire's bass was, but that certainly wasn't a problem during his solo spot, The Fish, during "The Big Medley". I also hear "farting" in places but I'm still not sure of the origin - overpowering of the mics or my cheap speakers are two possibilities, a third might be something in low frequencies of some of Wakeman's keys or the way they are reacting with something else. A couple of minor and very brief speed fluctations in a couple of places but nothing to complain about there really - at least a fairly solid audience recording, at least IMHO. (I assume the rating of VG by Ruud and B+ by relayerman refers to the same recording). And it is the complete concert. As always, if you have an upgrade to share with us (or if you know anything about the whereabouts of recordings of the other two previously named instances of CTTE with Squire between 1977 and 1996), please step right up!!!
