One night, I was very lucky to see a solo performance by Dr. John. I was about 6 feet away from the stage, and realised I was standing next to Alexis Korner. Does life get much better than that – a pint of Youngs in one hand, chatting to Alexis about his radio show, and Dr John so close you are almost sharing his piano stool? Didn't manage to record that one though. Anyway, many years later, I’m sitting in the Barbican, about as far away from the stage as you can get, with an overpriced plastic cup of warm white wine, Alexis Korner, God bless him, is long gone, but at least the good Dr. is still playing. And this is what he sounded like…
