Roy Martin\'s Music Collection (5/5) FLAC / 0 View   Tape (probably master) (SS174)
Notes: Lineage: Tape (probably master)>?>CD>Trade>FLACs from E-rroneous>Sony Soundforge (speed correction)>FLAC I speed corrected this to the best of my ability. It may not be perfect, but original tape was running way too fast. I believe I used -50 to get as close as I could to regular pitch (used other boot from 1977 as a reference)

Notes: In spite of the rarity of early ZZ Top recordings, this isn't one that's likely to make you very excited. My copy is recorded in 3 tracks and the sound quality fluctuates from poor to downright shitty. All of this is aggravated by the fact that you really want this to be a quality recording, for the classic songs that don't seem to be recorded live anywhere else if nothing else. What you get is a 1977 show, recorded on some apparently crappy equipment, mistreated in the years between recording and transfer to CDR, poorly tracked and suffering from some tape tracking issues. You'll still get to hear some moments of Top's unbridled brilliance, but you won't get to hear them very well.
