From the taper:
"This as another AKG/dbx tape. This one is from the trench warfare that taping X usually was, especially in L.A.. A large open floor ballroom that became a swirling maelstrom, at some points things got pretty dire, but here it is. I was disappointed how it came out back then but now it doesn't seem quite as rough as I remember. Plus digital editing helps. Typical large room ambience with a rowdy crowd, fairly even sound, no cut songs. No eq or DSP, just some level adjustments and editing for clean playback."
"I don't really remember that much about this show other than, it was packed, and hot, and when X started, it became a real tough place to make a tape. I somehow dropped my lighter and if you listen carefully in a few spots you can hear me and my girlfriend talking about it. I needed it to see what I was doing, and she did not want to look for it. Understandable from both sides!" |
