Notes: |
"Speakeasy" was a short lived TV talk/variety show
about the world of rock. The host, Chip Monck, was
best known as the guy who introduced the bands
and made stage announcements at the 1969
Woodstock festival. This particular episode had a
panel discussion about the record business
featuring Clive Davis (former CEO of CBS records
and CEO and founder of Arista records), Richard
Perry (record producer who had a hot streak of
hits under his belt at the time) and Frank Zappa
(composer, musician, producer, founder of
Bizarre/Straight records and "discoverer" of
Tom Waits). Tom was the musical guest that night.
This clip is only the Waits portion of the show. Shares the same disc with Fernwood 1977. Man, I wish I could have a video source of this! |
