Time HereÕs yesterdayÕs opening night of the ÒGlitter and DoomÓ tour, which saw Tom Waits in fine form indeed. I canÕt say enough about the show, which was every bit as outstanding as that set list up there suggests. As for the recording, it came out half-decent, and though you should check the sample below to decide for yourself, I doubt youÕll find yourself regretting the download. It was my first time in Phoenix Ð great town, incidentally Ð and my first time seeing Waits in almost a decade. It was also my first time using these mics, and they sound fantastic though the levels turned out a tad low. I was tempted to try to boost them before upping this, but in the end I decided to leave that to people more knowledgeable about those things than me. There are a couple of annoying aspects of the tape Ð a guy who decided to talk to me in the middle of ÒBlack Market Baby,Ó a woman nearby who had to be ejected and didnÕt exactly go quietly, as well as a couple who, bafflingly, had decided to bring their three-year-old to the show and werenÕt always successful in convincing her to pipe down. But itÕs a very enjoyable listen nonetheless. Looking forward to hearing more shows from the tour upped here in the future! | |||||
