Notes: Eric Clapton Live At Madison Square Garden, New York City, October 10, 1994 Big Apple Blues 3 The third night of a three night stand at the Garden during the 'From The Cradle' tour. Very nice sounding audience recording. Recorded from Section R of the Orchestra in the 7th row just to the left of center. One of the on nights for Eric. Recorded on Sony D3 with Sonics mics, transferred from a Sony 59ES DAT to CD-R via Fostex CR200 and ripped to FLAC using dBPowerAmp Music Converter.

Edgar H (4/5) / 2 View   "Big Apple Blues 3" (Aplay Recording - Geetarz 052-053)
Notes: Geetarz Comments: My favorite recording from the 3-night blues run at Madison Square Garden in 1994. I've always loved the combination of the Sonic Mics and a D3 or D7, especially with the preamp mod. It's a rich, warm sound that today's "all digital" recordings seem to lack. Which might simply be due to the fact that the DAT decks of that day were expensive, especially in relation to the relatively "cheap" (in design and build quality) solid state recorders today. As with most binarural recordings, this sounds great on speakers but fantastic on headphones. Recording Comments: Recording by Aplay; Section 4, Row R, Seat 7 > Sonic D6M Mics - Sony D3 (Sonic MOD2 for increased headroom) > DAT > DAT (2) DAT > CD Mastering by Geetarz: DAT > Tascam DA-20MkII > HHb CDR-800 > Mitsui Silver CD-R Tracking etc. "on the fly" with the HHb, no PC involved, around 1998. Extraction: CD-R > LiteOn iHAP 322 > EAC v. 0.99 Prebeta 5 (Secure, Offset Correct) > FLAC
