Recording from front arena (8 m from the stage). Crowd banter can be heard in-between songs and during quiet parts.
The Duesseldorf show is a great performance of the band during their recent European tour, introducing their brand-new album Octahedron with 5 tracks. All in all a well-balanced set list with songs of their last 5 studio albums. During this tour leg, The Mars Volta returned to playing some songs close to the album versions, Goliath e.g. But they did not forget how to jam, as you can hear in Cygnus or Roulette.
Other things to take note of: exciting guitar solo during Viscera, fabulous breakdown in Luciforms, again part of The Smiths' song 'That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore' is sung by Cedric (4:30). Also new (or at least this did not happen for a long time) is to hear Omar doing backing vocals on some of the new songs.
In the audience was someone from Canada who had made a sign telling this. Cedric sang something for him and dedicated Roulette to Canada. Overall he was quite talkative, during "Open Door Policy" he was joking about being in a microwave, and that's what it felt like at the venue. Everybody is praising his vocals during the last shows, and I have to add that he indeed was formidable, and especially the songs of the new album were impressive also because of his vocals.
Some pictures and cover art are also included, feel free to use it or post something you made. Visit the Comatorium (http://forum.thecomatorium.com/forum/) for reviews and more from the show.
Please do not convert the recording to mp3 unless for personal use. And please do not sell.
