Notes: The Cologne show is a great performance of the band during their recent European tour, introducing their new album Noctourniquet almost in its entirety (10 out of 13 tracks). Furthermore they did not forget how to jam, as you can hear in the outro to Trinkets or the jam after Jewel. Besides the Noctourniquet songs they only played two songs from their former albums, but the closer Goliath got a face-lift and was performed in a very relaxed and jazzy version. The band's performance was top-notch. Again Omar was doing backing vocals on some of the new songs, unfortunately his mics weren't open at the beginning of Lapochka, but it was fixed shortly after. Marcel took over keyboards in lieu of Ikey Owens and he did a pretty good job. The band's newest drummer, Deantoni Parks, was amazing to watch, I consider his playing to be subtle and not over-shadowing everything. Juan's bass is a little low on this recording, but that's the way the sound was at my location. Cedric was in top shape, his vocals were formidable, the songs of the new album were impressive also because of his vocals, even if he was struggling with some high notes. Another thing to mention are some crazy effects on the vocals. Recorded from near the soundboard, a little right of the center (15 m from stage). This time the Cologne crowd was great, not moshing, but lost to the music and rapt attention during the quiet parts. I'm happy with my new mics, recording TMV with them for the first time. Plus the sound at the venue was good (at least where I was standing), so this is reflected in the recording. Cover art may follow. Visit the Comatorium (http://forum.thecomatorium.com/forum/) for reviews, pictures and more from the show. Please do not convert the recording to mp3 or other lossy formats unless for personal use. And please do not sell. Enjoy! Line-up: Omar Rodriguez-Lopez : guitar, backing vocals Cedric Bixler-Zavala : vocals Juan Alderete : bass Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez : synthesizers, keyboards Deantoni Parks : drums
