Check samples for palatability prognosis or bluesification initiation. ::: Warts: Very slightly muffled and/or compressed signal. Occasional light reception pops - mostly repaired. #7 cuts (presumed tapeflip). #8 starts late & has some reception issues/channel clipping & loses stereo imaging on & off - You still can still eat it for dinner but you might want something else on the menu if you have guests. ::: Taper didn't label date, only artist/location. Correct date info courtesy of an astoundingly informative source, DIMER gv0000. ::: Final evening (a Saturday) of multiple night stand at The Bottom Line - Thurs Sept 30 'til Sat Oct 2, 1976. ::: The Rhinestones opened both Early & Late Shows each night. I don't know if they were broadcast or taped. ::: Similar, but slightly smaller band than the "Lots Of People" album, recorded on 1976-11-24 at The Roxy in Los Angeles. ::: Mayall returned to The Bottom Line in July 1977 with a completely different band & twas a KBFH broadcast. THIS AIN'T THAT! Recording Information ::: WNYU-FM stereo broadcast -> unknown equipment/stereo reel-to-reel recorder -> off-air master reel -> 1st generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby B on. (Note: I am not 100% sure the master was a reel, but that's what I seem to remember, if not, then master cassette). Playback 2013-12-26 ::: 1st generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth & speed adjusted (pitched!) for individual recording, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 (LPCM 44.10kHz/16bit WAV files) -> computer -> Audacity (normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch / dropout / bump / pop / click / dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, single averaged +.7 speed fix, NO equalisation) -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2014-02-08. Mega thanks to DIMER gv0000 for providing the date info on this (and many other recordings)! ::: Corrections welcome ::: FOr a bit of mental date calculations, for those who need it... Mayall albums of roughly this vintage: "New Year, New Band, New Company" released '75, "Notice To Appear" released '76 according to the LPs but One Way CD apparently claims released '75. "Banquet In Blues" recorded in May '76 & "Lots Of People" recorded Nov '76 but released '77. This set is a but more subdued than the My Father's Place FM from the next night but seems to be a more complete set & is slightly better quality. Enjoy, share, give, spread peace.
