On September 21st, 2016, Leonard Cohen celebrated his 82nd birthday with the release of a stunning new single called "You Want It Darker". On October 21st, 2016, he unveiled an entire new album. That same week, the Canadian Consulate in Los Angeles hosted a listening event for the album. As part of the event, Chris Douridas spoke with Leonard and his son, Adam, who produced the album with contributions from Patrick Leonard, Sharon Robinson and a male vocal choir from Montreal.
At 82 years old, and given his current health, this was his only scheduled interview surrounding the release. Accordingly, journalists from around the world were also in attendance.
