Notes: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Stotytellers 1999 I was a student at the University of Florida in Gainesville in the 60s. It was the days of Flower Power, hippies and an explosion in music. On Sunday afternoons we'd go over to the Plaza of the Americas and listen to local bands that would come out and play. One of the best bands was led by a skinny little kid with hair that was almost white. Even though he wasn't a great singer, there was something about him that everybody really liked. That skinny little kid was Tom Petty. Storytellers has long been one of my favorite music shows. It gives the artists a chance to show you who they are and what goes in to the music we've enjoyed so much over the years. Watching this show reminded me of those days in Gainesville. For a lot of people, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers embody all that is right with rock, and they've consistently been a top notch outfit. They don't let you down here. This is a very nice DVD that looks like it was captured directly to DVD on a home recorder. There is only a basic menu that starts the show but there are chapter marks for each segment and the intro to each song is a chapter and the song itself is a chapter so you can easily step through the show. Enjoy, Share, MP3 if you dare.
