EARLY SHOW. (Total time = 64:00). Soundboard recording > ? > Very low ("probably 2nd") generation analogue tape > ? > CD-R > EAC > WAV > Soundforge > FLAC Frontend > FLAC. Setlist states: "My source believes it's 2nd generation, which sounds plausible to me. I have some bad sounding audience fills, which I chose not to patch in here because of the big difference in sound, and I know there are mixed feelings about Soundboard/Audience patchworks." Converted by Yojimbo.

Frank Zappa
1980, June 7, early show, K?ln, Germany, Sporthalle
Soundboard A- 57 min 22 sec
my friend Jerome received this in a trade
so no line-age, no nothing
the only sure thing is that it is not from mp3.
I've removed the 2 seconds silence gap between tracks that incredibly was on the cdr,
and retracked it (no other sound modifications).
Tape clearly need to be speed adjusted, if someone with better skill and ears than mine
wil do it i will be very glad.
taped by: unknown
trasferred by: unknown
traded & ripped by: Jerome (CheepnisAroma)
edited by: amnesiavivace aka intisol (gap removal with cool edit,
flac/wav/flac conversions and retracking with shntool)

== Frank Zappa's Band Jan - Jul 1980 ==
FZ, Ike Willis, Ray White, Arthur Barrow, David Logeman, Tommy Mars.
7-Jun 1980, Sporthalle, K?ln, West Germany
Early Show: 62 min, SBD, B+
Pound For A Brown, Pick Me I'm Clean, Society Pages, I'm A Beautiful Guy, Beauty Knows No Pain, Charlie's Enormous Mouth, Dancin' Fool, Bobby Brown, Ms. Pinky
There was a little discussion if this is really the sbd from june 7 1980 early show
being the tracklist different (even if not incompatible) with the one given by JN
(and please note Naurin give a lenght of over 60 minute that can hardly be reached
whit his track list).
I'm pretty sure it is really the K?ln sbd, because the performance is the same available
(in an abridegd 35m version that match exactly Naurin tracklist) in the first part
of the Fred Zappelin boot, that states it as coming from K?ln early show.
The boot start with Pound and after that has a cut and restart with pick me I'm Clean.
In this tape no cut after Pound and Pick Me comes in a straight segue after Teenage wind
and Bamboozled by Love.
Also, Naurin doesn't list any other sbd tape from this band with a compatible track list
(except for the Rotterdam FM tape, that is clearly different).
During the discussion we discovered also that an audience tape, not listed by Naurin,
exist for this performance. It has the complete City of Tiny Lights and something
more from Easy Meat. This audience tape, that we only have in mp3 version, came
in a messed series (sometimes labelled as K?ln early, sometimes as Bremen May 27)
that include also songs from another source (the usual, for this tour, cosmik to easy meat
tracklist) that, imho, comes from another show (I can't say at now if it is from Bremen).
Also the ms pinky included in that serie is not from this performance (and nor for Bremen,
as result from comparision with the recently version seeded by walk).
An unlikely tale from the Zappa Patio: (http://www.lukpac.org/~handmade/patio/bootlegs/concert_boots1976-1980.html#fredzappelin)
"This boot was made from a soundboard tape stolen from Carlos Santana's luggage at a hotel in New Haven, Connecticut, where Carlos was staying after a concert at the "New Haven Colliseum" [?]. Crazy but true. (A "friend of the thief" has been in touch, reporting that he also came by some Santana tapes of the same time period, as "both Frank and Santana were touring Europe at the same time".)"

Quality & Completeness notes
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As said, tape pitch is wrong. I've tried to repitch it with cool edit
but I was unsure of the result so i preferred to seed the raw version.
Probably the tape suffers from some other speed problems
The tape start in City of Tiny Lights and has no cuts until the end of Charlie's Enormous Mouth
Music restart during guitar solo on Easy Meat that is the last song of the "regular" set list.
Tape has his second and last cut during the audience noises (no music missing).
