Notes: Pretty rare show and a 'good' but not 'great' performance. There are hardly any shows from this period. I've always viewed this show as Tom's final farewell to the 'old Tom'. He would not perform setlists like this again. When he returned to touring in 1985 it was in support of the brilliant and challenging 'rain dogs'. Tom sounds tired here and some of these performances are rather flat and uninspired. So whilst the setlist is made up of a lot of tracks Tom was performing in the years 1976-1979 many of the performance renditions are nowhere near as good. His voice is not as raspy and just doesn't suit the material as well (except for real oldies of course like 'San Diego Serenade' which is performed fairly well). So why bother getting this one? Personally its the 1,2,3 of the then new material 'Broken Bicycles', 'Tango', and the lovely 'I Beg Your Pardon' that make this show worth having, and the fact that it marks the end of an era of great music from Tom Waits.
