Notes: Black Sabbath Live At The San Bernardino Swing Auditorium, 1972-03-17, Complete Show, Master AUD reel-to-reel (first time in circulation) This show contains rare, alternate lyrics for two songs. To start out with, I have been trying to document the other performances from this date since the posting of the Wild Turkey torrent some time back. The original taper was not pristine in taking down notes on the box, and he has occasionally been wrong before. Although both Black Sabbath and Wild Turkey were labeled "Swing", there were no dates on the boxes, and the Wild Turkey show was on a seperate reel altogether. Finally, I can confirm the existence of the tape which is represented here. I can now also state definitively that this Black Sabbath show is from the 1972 San Bernardino Swing show, and has never appeared before. I can also tell you although it has no label at all, the Yes portion has also been located. Together with the help of Rob Dwyer's SabbathLive.Com and from Mr. Dwyer personally, plus archival material from ForgottenYesterdays.com about this show, all other dates and venues were eliminated in a fashion similar to a Su Doku puzzle. This is definitely it, there can be no other choices. In case you are confused, the following acts appeared: Wild Turkey Yes Black Sabbath (I may have the order slightly wrong, Yes may have come first) A rough mp3 of this show was sent to Rob Dwyer, and a review of it appears on SabbathLive.com. I want to thank him personally for all the positive encouragement. He was a true gentleman to deal with. From the conversations with him, I'd also like to present you with... sort of a mathematical equation, something to think about: Share The Music Rarity of Single Show Tape ------------------- = ----------------------------- Preserve The Rarity Rarity of Tapes of Entire Tour To me, anyway: It's one thing if the particular show is uncirculated, and there are other representations of this music recorded live from this time period, it's quite another thing if no other tapes have appeared at all from a particular band's tour. If it's another show from an already documented tour, usually I don't see a problem to post the material. As a side note to all you Yes fans - I am still not sure how much of the Yes I actually have, but that recording is most likely incomplete. They appear to have played for 90 minutes, but at most there is only 50 of it. There appear to be two seperate tapes, and both are unlabeled as to venue (but both are in fact this show). There also may be some duplication of material, which will further reduce the running time. It will take a while to sort that part out, but rest assured, the Yes will be posted once it's all put together. For a recollection of the Yes portion, visit ForgottenYesterdays.com.
