Notes: Taper's notes: I had attended all of Radiohead's previous four performances at this magical venue since their two-night debut there in 2001 so it was rather important to me that I made it to this hurrah as well. Weirdly, it just happened to fall one night shy of five years since their last visit. For months it just didn't seem as if it would happen. One of my closest friends has been seeing concerts there for 30+ years and said there has NEVER been a tougher ticket for the county bowl. Low and behold, with little more than 72 hours to coordinate cross country flights, etc. "the ticket fairy" came through with a pair for me and said friend to attend this gig. HUGE THANKS are in order to: Inez for literally spending the better part of a week making this a little more enjoyable for your listening. As par for the course goes at a hot ticket show at the bowl in SB, more than half the people are there to be seen and converse rather than listen to the music. Combine that fun fact with the relatively chill/quiet set list and you have a recipe for disaster, recording wise. I personally felt the crowd was intrusive enough that this would have been shelved indefinitely (see SB 2008) yet Inez took it upon herself to get right to fixing things up. Her dedication to this community is certainly second to none and we should all be glad she's ours. All that said, I was in an excellent spot and I believe the recording reflects that. The show was fairly enjoyable (I think it was my 40th) even if it was rather mellow throughout. The band was quite tight as a unit and leaving California before/without taking in the Berkeley shows was a tough thing to do. Editor’s comments: Ok, so… this is probably as close as I have gotten to finally making to Santa Barbara for a Radiohead gig!! Been contemplating it forever, and this time around, I had the date blocked out before it was even announced, made arrangements to crash with a friend and was going to follow it up with Sigur Ros shows in LA and - life interfered. Again :( On the other hand, I spent about 18 hours removing from this fine tape some compulsive talkers who should have not been there at all Lol - so I feel like I did at least fly back and forth!!! :) Seriously though, I am super thrilled that the ticket fairy found us 4 days before the gig and that Edgar was able to drop it all and fly out and do the best he could to capture this for all of us!! So all the big thanks go to him. Such an amazing show… Sound quality is fantastic. Thom is cracking jokes and being silly… I bet my neighbors particularly appreciated Colin’s part… Lol. ENJOY this gem from this short yet utterly amazing run!!
