12/04/2003 Shoop I just did a quick A/B on the AKG source (Linda Webster's) vs. this source, and I'm sad to say neither source is exceptional. The AKG has a bit more presence, a more "up front" sound if you will. The instruments are all clearer and better defined in the AKG source, whereas they sound a bit muddy for the most part in the Schoeps source. The AKG also has a fuller low-end that is is also very boomy at times, although the Schoeps is a little boomy as well in the louder sections. The AKG would be my hands-down pick between the 2 overall but where it flounders is in the louder sections, where the loud levels cause some saturation (such as during the jam into Real Me and most of the main part of Real Me). But everwhere else the AKGs sound better to my ears. The Schoeps just sound a little flat overall in comparison.
