01/13/2002 | Hamilton, Diana | I was surprised to find that my ears didn't quite match up with the expectation I had from the impressive lineage. The drums are clear, but the bass and keys seem a bit muffled compared to Schoeps I've been used to hearing. Is it possible the mics were set too close to the action, missing some of the "punch" delivered by the main PA? In any case, hats off to Jered for capturing the fine performance! | |

11/04/2010 | funktopu | This was an a-typical venue. The stage was basically a tiny cement slab sitting in the middle of campus. The slab is solid concrete and raised about 4 feet from the ground, of which the guys could barely fit their equipment on it. They were on top of each other. I could touch Billy's cymbals at the front of the stage, Chris' amp was tucked away behind John and definitely furthest from me, and John's amp was to the far left. The PA setup was really shabby, so I thought it would sound much better than if recorded from further back. Glad we got it! Jered |
